How I Spent my Snow Days

So unless you’ve been under a rock the past few days, you know that my part of the country was hit with a substantial amount of snow this weekend. I was one of the lucky ones who only got 24 inches in her yard. Others got more.

Needless to say I haven’t left the house since Friday afternoon (except to clean the driveway, which doesn’t count). It’s been a wonderful weekend full of absolutely nothing. I read an entire novel (in 3 hours – I have a problem), baked and frosted those cookies referenced in my previous entry with the “Hey Amanda” video, played The Sims 3, and challenged my parents to a round of Ticket to Ride (also known as the best game ever). My Christmas tree came down this evening.

Tomorrow I hope to get to the post office so I can mail those cookies. After they’re in the mail, I will share some pictures. I hope you’ll be as pleased with my efforts (or lack thereof) as I was.

My big accomplishment for the weekend? Emptying the DVR. Well, it’s almost empty. I have one CES fireside saved on there, as well as this entire season of The Vampire Diaries.  Still, that thing was almost entirely full before I sat down and started to go through.

In clearing out back episodes of the TV shows I don’t have time to watch anymore I have come to an official conclusion (well, two): First of all, I miss awards shows. I did not watch or tape the Grammys this year and I’m really sad I missed it. I thought I would get over that, but so far I haven’t. Second of all, I am not a Oprah fan. She used to walk that fine line between fabulously fierce and downright rude very nicely. These days she’s just mean. I am not on board with that.

My paper chain refuses to stay stuck to the wall. I’ve been looking around for a pushpin so I can tack it in place, but haven’t had any luck yet. If you’re wondering how that’s going, the count is down to 39 days. I assume the chain is eager to be done and that’s why it won’t stick around.

These days I am missing my oversized planner that showed the whole month on two pages. I love planners and try to keep as many as possible. I know that’s not the most effective way to manage my time – writing things in every single planner – but I sure do like to do it. The repetition is nice.

My big goal for the weekend was to find those family pictures that have gone missing. Unfortunately I didn’t get that done. I’m on the verge of ordering more though I really hate that idea since I know we already have the prints around here somewhere. I will really have to make that a priority this week.

I’ve thought a lot about priorities this weekend. Since I was trapped at home, I had a lot of time with my thoughts. It’s really interesting to step back and look at the things that take priority in your life. Right now I’m looking forward to re-prioritizing some aspects of my life.

My big news for this month is that I have paid off one of my credit cards. I am very, very excited about this.

Soon, some pictures.
