Wedding Week – The Hoodies
Welcome to Wedding Week at The Domestic Empress. My college roomie is getting married on Saturday, so this week will be devoted entirely to wedding-related things.

Days to Go: 5
As soon as the Future Mrs. S told me she was getting married, I knew I wanted to get her one of those awesome hoodies to wear while she was having her hair done on the big day. Since we both worked in the land of dressy panties together I knew she was probably just as sick of those “Sexy Little Bride” hoodies as I was. So I started looking online to see what the options were.
Imagine my horror when I discovered that the nice bridal hoodies cost around $65. She’s worth every dollar to me, but she would have been sick if she knew I spent that kind of money on a sweatshirt she could only wear a few times. And then I thought it would be fun for the bridal party to have matching hoodies. If you’ve never been in a wedding before, you should be aware that it’s not an inexpensive calling. $65 hoodies were just not in the budget.
Never one to abandon a sinking ship, I quickly came up with a plan.
Step One: Use a friend’s American Apparel wholesale account to get the plain hoodies for extra cheap.
Step Two: Purchase enough iron-on rhinestones to bedazzle a life-size version of yourself.
Step Three: Choose a pattern.
Step Four: Realize the pattern you’ve chosen is impossible to transfer onto the fabric. Go into a weeklong bout of denial.
Step Five: Return to craft store in search of transfer pen. Discover a stencil instead.
Step 6: Trace lettering, apply rhinestones, feel weight lift from shoulders.
Step 7: Vow to use pre-cut fabric letters next time a project like this comes up.
Ultimately the amount of time I spent working on these hoodies probably equaled $65. But you’ll be pleased to know that each hoodie actually only cost me $20-25. These days I have more time than I do money, so it all evens out.
We’ll be sporting these lovely creations for our bridesmaid mani/pedi and luncheon as well as on the wedding day.

Very cute. I’m hoping you glued instead of bedazzling. Bedazzling, I learned, is a very painful endeavor and you might have lost a finger in doing all those rhinestones.

These rhinestones were of the iron-on variety, so no fingers were lost in the bedazzling process.
